TWO REMAINING AL-JAZEERA REPORTERS TO BE RETRIED

Two remaining Al-Jazeera journalists, Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohammed detained in Egypt since 2013 will be retried on February 12, 2015. The retrial was ordered by a court in January.
You recall that Peter Greste, another Al-jazeera journalist who was jailed with them was released and deported to Australia last week.
Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohammed are serving seven and ten years prison sentences respectively after being accused of aiding the banned Muslim Brotherhood.
Mr Mohamed Fahmy holds dual citizenship of Canada and Egypt and  has renounced his Egyptian citizenship last week. If he is freed, he will be deported to Canada.
Mr Baher Mohammed on the other hand holds only one citizenship, that of Egypt.
Amal Clooney, the high profile wife of actor George Clooney is the lawyer to Mr Fahmy and has written the President of Egypt that she would visit Cairo to discuss the case.
It is believed that her presence will bring international focus on Egypt and Egypt would want this Al-jazeera issue to go away.
