An order by President Obama protecting young immigrants from deportation if they were brought into United States illegally as children which is supposed to take effect from Wednesday has been temporarily stalled by a US judge who ruled late monday in favour of a coalition of 26 states led by Texas to temporarily stop the order until the suit aimed at permanently stopping the executive order is completed.
The white house said the Department of Justice will file an appeal . They defended the president's order as being within the president's legal authority since the supreme court and immigration have said that federal officials can establish priorities in enforcing immigration laws, Another of Obama's orders which was supposed to take effect from May 19th is to protect parents of US citizens and permanent residents who have been in the country for some years from deportation. Immigrants are dissapointed with the ruling but hopeful it will be reversed.
