EBOLA: LIBERIAN PRESIDENT ACKNOWLEDGES ERRORS IN EARLY RESPONSE TO EBOLA

The Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in an interview with the New York Times has acknowledged that the  order of tough security crackdown, deployment of troops and police officers  during the Ebola crisis  to seal off a vast neighbourhood in the capital only resulted in distrust of the government and was counter productive.

The Liberian President described Ebola virus as an "unknown enemy" at that time that frightened her and the order then  was intended to curtail the spread.
She said, " It did not take long to know that did not  work" " It created more tension in the society"

It is a rare show of courage for a President to acknowledge that there were some mistakes made in handling of Ebola crisis at the early stage.
