FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA MAKES A U-TURN, RE-OPENS SEA BORDERS

The Minister of Interior of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abba Moro on Thursday announced the re-opening of Nigeria's sea borders barely a day after closing both the land and sea borders because intelligence report gathered indicated that foreigners wanted to cross the border in order to vote in Saturday's presidential elections.

The Interior Minister however said the sea borders were re-opened because government had been informed that closure of the sea borders will affect the economic activities going on at the seaports.

The Minister further said that officers and men at the Nigerian Immigration Service have been detailed to monitor movement in and out of the sea borders before, during and after the elections.

The security of the nation should be a collective effort, the Interior Minister                   reiterated.
