MINISTER OF PETROLEUM SUES SEVERAL MEDIA HOUSES OVER MISSING $20BILLION NNPC OIL FUNDS


The Minister of Petroleum,  Diezani Alison- Madueke has instituted an action against several media houses and individuals at the Federal High Court ,Abuja in order to restrain  them from linking her to the missing $20 billion NNPC oil funds.

The defendants include, Vanguard Media Limited and its editor, Mideno Bayagbon, All Progressives Congress (APC), Premium Times Services Limited and its Editor in Chief, Dapo Olorunyomi, Leadership Newspapers Group Limited and its editor, Ekele Peter Agbo, Vintage Press Limited and its Editor, Lekan Otufodunrin, National Broadcasting Corporation and the Nigerian Press Council.

Mrs Diezani Alison- Madueke's lawyer, Godwin Obla obtained an interim injuction restraining the defendants from "publishing or causing to be published any further defamatory statements" insinuating that the minister, "stole, misappropriated or colluded in the stealing of $20billion crude oil revenue."

It will be recalled that $20billion was reported missing from the coffers of the National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
