NIGERIAN ARMY TO BEGIN TRIAL OF BRIGADIER GENERAL AND 22 OTHERS


The trial of a  Brigadier General, four Colonels, seven Lt Colonels and 10 other officers of the Nigerian army will begin today in Lagos for alleged negligence and complicity during the September 2, 2014 invasion of 21 Artillery Brigade, Barma  by Boko Haram insurgents. The officers are being tried for cowardly behaviour, negligence to perform military duties among other accusations and if convicted could attract the death penalty. The trial will be presided over by Major General S.D. Aliyu.
