"Blurred Lines"by Robin Thicke, one of the biggest hits of 2013 is said to have been copied from Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up" according to court ruling.
Speaking for the first time since the court ruling, Pharrell Williams says , everything is inspired by something and warning that if care is not taken the entertainment industry will be stifled after "Blurred Lines" copyright lawsuit and many other artists could be sued following this judgement.
Pharrell said, " The verdict handicaps any creator out there who's making something that might be inspired by something else" "This applies to fashion ......anything" "If we lose our freedom to be inspired we're going to look up one day and the entertainment industry as we know it will be frozen in litigation." "This is about protecting the intellectual rights of people who have ideas"
"Everything that's around you in a room was inspired by something or someone. If you kill that, there's no creativity" Pharrell told the Financial Times.
Pharrell says he and Robin Thicke will be considering their next line of action.
