PRESIDENT OBAMA, HILARY CLINTON AND SEVERAL OTHERS RE-ENACT THE SELMA MARCH OF 1965

President Obama, Hilary Clinton and thousands of people on Saturday crowded at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama to re-enact the 1965  Selma march of Civil Rights protesters 50 years ago which helped bring about the Voting Rights Act. The 1965 march saw security forces brutalise peaceful demonstrators.
7th March 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of that historic event.
Obama at an event marking the 50th anniversary of the historic Selma March talked about recent clashes between law enforcement officers and citizens that left unarmed black men dead, he said "We just need to open our eyes and ears and hearts, to know that this nation's racial history still casts its long shadow upon us" "We know the march is not yet over, the race is not yet won, and that reaching that blessed destination where we are judged by content of our character requires admitting as much"
Georgia Rep. John Lewis who was part of the 1965 peaceful demonstrators that were attacked by security forces joined Obama on Saturday's re-enactment.
