CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA SET TO PUBLISH NAMES OF CHRONIC BANK DEBTORS

The Central Bank of Nigeria through its Director, Banking Supervision, Mrs Tokunbo Martins has said that it will publish names of chronic bank debtors amidst concerns over the growing amount of non-performing bank loans.

Mrs Martins also stated at the 321st Bankers Committee meeting that such chronic and non-performing debtors will be stopped from buying foreign exchange from the official interbank foreign exchange market. 

Board members of debtor companies as well as their subsidiaries will also be stopped from buying foreign exchange from official interbank forex market.

Mrs Tokunbo said the measures are for chronic debtors not for debtors in general.
