CHINA: FEATHERED HEADRESS WORTH 120,000 YUAN ($19,400) CAUSES OUTRAGE AND SOCIAL MEDIA BUZZ

A famous Peking Opera Singer, Liu Guijuan, also a member of Chinese Political Consultative Conference(CPCC) has been criticised after she posted a photo of one of her headdresses on Weibo account and said it was worth 120,000 yuan ($19,400) and that it was made out of feathers of 80 kingfishers.
Her comments drew strong criticisms from conservationists who said she was torturing animals.
Liu later deleted the post.
Peking Opera headdresses are usually pulled off live birds because the feathers are of high quality.
