EBOLA: DISTRICT IN SIERRA LEONE RECORDS FIRST CASE OF EBOLA AFTER 100 DAYS OF LAST POSITIVE CASE

Sierra Leone's district of Kailahun has recorded its first case of Ebola after nearly 100 days of last positive case.

A nine month old baby who died in Kailahun, a district on a border with Guinea tested positive for Ebola.

This threatens Sierra Leone's progress to wipe out the Ebola disease. Kailahun was recording 80 infections per week to zero at the end of last year.

World Health Organisation(WHO) spokesperson, Winnie Romeril has said local and foreign experts have been sent to investigate the case after positive result.

Alex Bonapha, Kailahun's district council chairman said it was not clear how the boy contacted Ebola as both parents are healthy.
It is being suspected the boy could have gotten it from blood transfusion as the Nixon Hospital in Kailahun confirmed he underwent blood transfusion before dying.
Update: A further investigation by WHO showed tha the nine month old baby didnot die of Ebola, so Kailahun remains Ebola free for more than 100 days.
