A treatment known as TKM-EBOLA-GUINEA which targets the makona strain of the virus that caused deadly outbreak in West Africa has been tested on Monkeys.
All three monkeys receiving treatment became healthy at the end of the trial period of 28 days.
US based scientists however caution that the drug has not been tested on human beings.
University of Texas scientist, Thomas Geisbert has said, 'this is the first study to show post exposure protection against the new makona strain of Ebola zaire virus'.
Trials on humans will begin second half of this year.
