GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL INVITES PRESIDENT-ELECT, BUHARI TO VISIT GERMANY


German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has invited the President-elect of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to visit Germany.
Angela Merkel currently heads the G7 economic block of industrialised countries comprising Germany, Canada, Japan, Britain, Italy, France and the United States of America.
The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Zenner, his French and Canadian counterparts, Denys Gauer and Perry John Calderwood rspectively paid separate congratulatory visits to Buhari on Tuesday at the Defence House, Abuja.
After the meeting with Buhari, German Ambassador, Michael Zenner told journalists his visit was to congratulate Buhari and Nigerians on the successful conduct of the last general elections as well as extend the invitation of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel to Buhari requesting him to visit Germany.
Zenner said,
"Iam here to congratulate the President-elect, Genera lBuhari on his election and handed over to him the letter from the German Chancellor, inviting him to Germany".
"We have a bi-national commission with Nigeria and we are one of the countries with which Nigeria has this bi-national commission and it covers the whole range of political, economic and security areas. There are many areas in which we can move further and deepen our very close co-operation"
