HIV: THE NUMBER OF POSITIVE HIV CASES JUMPS TO 142 IN INDIANA

Indiana Health Officials have said on Friday that the number of positive HIV tests so far this year has jumped  to 142 in Scott County.
These include 136 confirmed cases and 6 preliminary positives in the county.
Previously Scott County only had 3 new HIV between 2009 and 2013 and has never seen more than 5 cases in a year until now.
State Health Commissioner, Dr. Jerome Adams has said,
"We literally have new cases being reported everyday". Chief Medical Consultant for Indiana State Department of Health, Dr. Joan Duwve has said that 4 out of 5 people infected in the outbreak have acknowledged using injectable drugs mostly the pain killer Opana.
Federal Health Officials have issued an alert to Health departments nationwide in U.S. urging them to take steps to identify and track HIV and Hepatitis C cases in an effort to prevent similar outbreaks elsewhere.
