HIV: STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED IN INDIANA AS HIV EPIDEMIC SPREADS

Indiana Governor, Mike Pence has on the recommendation of the Indiana State Department of Health and in consultation with Scott county officials and Centres for Disease Control extended the public health emergency in Scott County for another 30 days.
The initial public health emergency was declared on March 26 for 30 days and according to Indiana law; state of disaster emergencies cannot continue after 30 days unless the governor renews it.
135 people have been diagnosed in 2 counties, 129 confirmed and 6 preliminary positives.
The outbreak has spread from Scott county to Jackson county as there are 5 cases in Jackson county, so says health officials.
