INDONESIA EXECUTES 2 AUSTRALIANS AND 6 OTHERS FOR DRUG OFFENCES, FILIPINA WOMAN GETS REPRIEVE

Indonesia has executed 8 convicts, 2 Australians, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, Nigeria nationals, a Brazilian, and an Indonesian by firing squad for drug offences.
Australia had appealed to Indonesia to delay the execution but Indonesia didnot heed to their request.
Filipina woman, Mary Jane Veloso got last minute reprieve after a request from Phillipine President, a spokesperson from the attorney general's office told BBC.
Someone suspected of framing Veloso to carry the heroin to Indonesia surrendered to Police in Phillipines and Veloso will be given the opportunity to testify as a witness in the suspects trial in Phillipines.
Mary Jane Veloso's mother, Celia described the last minute reprieve as a miracle. She said to Phillipine radio station, DZMM, "We are so happy, I can't believe it. I can't believe my child will live".
A french man has also been sentenced to death for drug offences but still has an outstanding appeal.
Earlier, the executed convicts were allowed to spend their final moments with family members.
Indonesia has one of the toughest drug laws in the world as according to Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency, 33 Indonesians die everyday as a result of drugs. Indonesia stopped its moratorium on execution for drug offences in 2013.
