INEC OFFICE RAZED BY FIRE IN IMO STATE

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) office in Nwaorubi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State was razed by fire in the early hours of Sunday.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gabriel Ada confirmed the incidence and said that several materials both (sensitive and insensitive) kept in the building were destroyed by the fire.

Mr Gabriel Ada suspects that electric spark from a generating set might have caused the fire.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gabriel Ada also said that the card readers to be used for the governorship elections coming up on Saturday, 11th April were not destroyed by the fire but that the fire might cause a little hitch during the election while promising to do everything possible to replace the materials burnt in the fire before Saturday's elections.
