NIGERIANS GO TO THE POLLS TODAY TO ELECT GOVERNORS AND STATE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

Nigerians go to the polls today, 11th April to elect the Governors and State Assembly members of their choice.

The presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted on March 28th. The election was generally peaceful and Nigerians came out on masse to make history. The opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari defeated the sitting President, Jonathan Goodluck who was contesting under the platform of the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Today's election started at 7.00am local time. The Independent National Electoral Commission has warned that only those with permanent voter cards (PVC) will be allowed to vote.

Will there be any surprises in the governorship elections? Most sitting governors are seeking re-election. Will Nigerians vote for change in states where the governors have not performed creditably or will they vote based on parties. The results will tell and we will bring you live updates as the results are announced.
