ONDO STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR IMPEACHED


The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has been impeached. He was impeached on Monday morning by members of the State House of Assembly.
Majority Leader, Henry Akinsoyinu moved the motion for impeachment stating that seven impeachable offences of gross misconduct and abuse of office levelled against the Deputy Governor have been proved.
The motion was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Oyebo Aladetan.
A seven man panel of investigation chaired by Olatunji Adeniyan which was set up by the State Chief Judge, Olasehinde Kumuyi submitted its report to the House earlier in the morning.
Jumoke Akindele, the Speaker of the House adopted the motion and declared the Deputy Governor impeached and therefore removed from office.
Opposition party members, Gbenga Edema and Fola Olasehinde who belong to All Progressives Congress (APC) were however absent from the sitting.
The Speaker of the House directed that the Deputy Governor should hand all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary in office of the Deputy Governor.
