18 year old Xie Xu has been described as the 'most beautiful student' in China because he spent three years carrying his disabled 19 year old classmate Zhang Chi to school so he does not miss a class.
This has been shared on Chinese social media and received wide spread media coverage.
Deputy Headmaster at Daxu High School in Xuzhou Jiangsu Province where both Xie and Zhang have attended school for the past three years has described the story as touching and inspiring.
Zhang suffers from muscular dystrophy, a condition that gradually weakens skeletal muscle.
Xie and Zhang are not family but Xie has been doing this for 3 years. Xie has applied to join Nanjing Polytechnic Institute after he graduates from high school and had an interview on April 23.
Zhang is also billed to take the Chinese intensive college entrance exam, the gaokao in a month's time.
They are both likely to go their separate ways soon as they both succeed in passing their various exams.
