11,449 NIGERIANS RETURN FROM NIGER REPUBLIC

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that 11,449 Nigerians have returned from neighbouring country of Niger Republic.
The reasons why the Nigerians went to Niger in the first place was not given but it could be adduced that it was due to the insurgency going on in the north eastern part of Nigeria that many fled to Niger.
According to Nigerian Eye, NEMA said the returnees were registered at a transit camp in Geidam, Yobe State and about 7,000 of them have been transported back to their respective communities as at Tuesday, 12th May.
The Director General of the Agency, Mr. Sani Sidi said in the coming days, more returnees will be transported to their communities as higher capacity buses and vehicles have been engaged.
The Director General said, "The agency is also continuing with the provision of basic supports at the transit camp".
The Director General said NEMA was committed to transporting the refugees to their respestive communities as NEMA workers will not leave until the last returnee has left to his or her community.
Mr. Sidi further said,
"From the registration, the returnees are identified to be Nigerians from Borno, Taraba, Jigawa, Kano, Benue, Bauchi, Sokoto, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Imo and Delta states".
