BURUNDI: PRESIDENT NKURUNZIZA SACKS THREE MINISTERS

President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi has sacked three of his ministers. The sacked ministers are the Minister of Defence, External Relations and Trade Ministers.
However, the president's spokesman said their sack had nothing to with the ministers being linked with the coup plot.
The sacked Ministers have been promptly replaced with Emmanuel Ntahomvukiye, a civilian named the Defence Minister.
This would be the first time a civilian will be in charge of the army in Burundi. The outgoing defence minister is a former soldier with a huge following and the new appointments might likely deepen the crisis.
Meanwhile protests continued on Monday against President Nkurunziza's third term bid. Some businesses in Nyakabiga, Mutakura and Musaga neighbourhoods of capital, Bujumbura were closed while in places where the president is popular life carried on as normal.
