CALIFORNIA SENATE NAMES RAPPER KENDRICK LAMAR 'GENERATIONAL ICON'


California State Senator, Isadore Hall iii honoured Rapper, Kendrick Lamar by giving him the 35th Senate District's Generational Icon Award on the Golden State Senate floor.
Compton where Lamar grew up is one of the districts under Hall.
Mr. Hall said he was impressed that in less than 10 years, Lamar, 27, had gone from a local Compton young boy to a multi platinum, billboard chart topping, two time Grammy Award winning musician.
Hall also said he was impressed Lamar still related with people in Compton despite his fame.
He commended the rapper for donating thousands of dollars to support local sports, after school and music programs and for working with a non- profit organisation.
Lamar posed with the plaque and thanked him for honouring him.
