It is being projected that the Conservatives will come within a single vote of being able to govern alone. But if they come short, Cameron will be able to put together a government with the support of minority parties.
The Labour Leader, Ed Miliband who was hoping to oust the Conservative-Liberal Democratic coalition is shocked at the magnitude of Cameron's win.
Miliband conceded that it had been a "very disappointing and difficult night for the Labour party".
Dozens of seats have been relinquished by Labour and they failed to grab key marginals. Labour has been all but wiped out by the Scottish National Party in seats north of the English border.
The Liberal Democrats suffered worse losses and Nick Clegg, the party leader appeared to indicate he will step down.
The Conservatives on the other hand have gained a few seats and require 326 votes in the House of Commons to command a majority.
