The World Health Organisation (WHO) update for the week ended May 3rd shows only 18 new cases of Ebola were reported, 9 each in Guinea and Sierra Leone. This is the lowest weekly count since 2015 and WHO has cautioned against complacency as Liberia had weekly counts of less than 10 since January 2015 and is yet to be declared Ebola-free.
Liberia has not reported any new cases of Ebola and is to be declared Ebola free this week if no new cases emerge.
