FORMER AMERICAN IDOL EXEC BLAMES HIRING OF NICKI MINAJ AND MARIAH CAREY AS JUDGES FOR SHOWS DEMISE

Nigel Lythgoe who was American Idol executive producer from 2002-2013 has blamed the shows demise on the hiring of Mariah Carey and Niicki Minaj together as judges in Season 12, 2012.
Nigel says the two together took away from the contestants and it became about tthe judges.
He also says may be if they were cast individually, they may have succeeded.
Mariah and Nicki didn't get on during their stint as judges on American Idol and it was obvious to viewers.
On the cancellation, Simon Cowell said ,"we had a blast, me, Paula, Randy and Ryan and not forgeting Brian".
Simon thanked all the fans for enabling them make some real shows and finding amazing talents.
Ryan Seacrest tweeted, "Yes next year will be our final season of @American idol: This shows been a big part of my life for so long.... hard to imagine it w/out it. Next season will be very emotional, yes but next season will be unforgettable"
