The number of people infected with HIV in Southern Indiana as of Thursday is now 150 but state health officials say the tide may be turning.
State health officials working with other health officials have contacted 385 of the 411 people who are at risk of contracting the virus from those who tested positive to the disease.
Intervention Specialists hope to reach the remaining contacts next week.
Deputy State Health Commissioner, Jennifer Walthall says, "we feel that we are starting to get a hand on where we are in the outbreak".
250 people have participated in the needle exchange program while 10,480 clean needles have been given out since the needle exchange program began in Indiana.
