
The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF has on Tuesday asked for explanations from Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, the Finance Minister and Co-ordinating Minister of the economy on $20 billion being Excess Crude Account accruals for 2 years.
This was part of a communique issued after a four hour meeting by the 36 state governors of Nigeria at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.
The communique read by outgoing NGF Chairman, Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi in part says, "In the light of the facts that funds in the Excess Crude Account were last disbursed in May 2013, there is need for the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the economy , Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to provide explanations for accruals to this account from June 2013 to April 2015 which is estimated at over $20billion".
Governor Amaechi's tenure has expired and a new chairman has been elected by concensus as his successor. He is Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state.
He is to serve for one year period, May 2015- May 2016.
