NIGERIA: AMBODE COMMEMORATES 22ND ANNIVERSARY OF JUNE 12, 1993 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday, 12th June  celebrated the 22nd anniversary of June 12, 1993 presidential elections.
June 12, 1993 presidential elections was won by Moshood Abiola, a businessman and philanthropist in what has been described as one of the fairest elections in Nigeria prior to 2015 presidential elections.
However, the military junta in power at the time annulled the elections and installed a transitional government which Moshood Abiola rejected in its entirety. Abiola was later arrested as he insisted on his mandate  given by the citizens of Nigeria. Unfortunately he died in custody. Pro democracy activists have kept the date June 12 alive.
Below are more photos of the event hosted by the Lagos State Governor to commemorate the day.
