Before his appointment, Alhaji Ahmed Idris was Director of Finance and Accounts, Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. Alhaji Ahmed Idris hails from Kano State and was born on November 25, 1960.
His appointment was made known by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, through a statement by his Director of Communications, Haruna Imrana on Thursday, 25th June which reads in part,
"President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Idris as the Accountant General of the Federation. The appointment takes immediate effect from 25th June 2015".
