RACHEL DOLEZAL, THE WHITE WOMAN WHO CLAIMED TO BE BLACK FOR DECADES RESIGNS FROM NAACP

Rachel Dolezal, 37, a white woman who claimed to be black for decades has resigned as president of a local branch of National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People, (NAACP).
Rachel is a woman with light brown complexion and dark hair. She graduated from Howard University and was married to a black man.
Rachel publicly described herself as black and complained of being victim of racial discrimination in white region but her parents last week said their daughter is white with faint trace of Native America.
They produced  photo of Rachel as a blonde white girl.
Mum, Ruthanne Dolezal said Rachel began disguising herself as a black girl after they (her parents) adopted 4 black children years ago.
Initially Dolezal dismissed the controversy  saying it was as a result of a legal dispute which had divided the family. However, members of NAACP had been increasingly pressing her to resign which she did.
An NAACP member in Spokane has said that Dolezal's resignation is the best thing that can happen right now.
Rachel however says she identifies as black and cited an experience where she said as a child she used the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon when drawing self portraits. She said she has lived a 'life of survival' and all decisions she made including the decision to self identify as black were 'to survive'.
Her parents however say she needs to seek help or therapy.
