SECOND NY PRISON ESCAPEE DAVID SWEAT IS BEGINNING TO SHED SOME LIGHT ON THEIR ESCAPE

Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that the two convicted murderers who escaped NY prison and eluded a massive manhunt for three weeks had initially planned to drive to Mexico but later headed to Canada when their ride backed out.
Governor Cuomo said David Sweat, the second fugitive who was caught alive was beginning to relay information to police about their escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora on June 6.
The prison tailor shop employee, Joyce Mitchell got close to the men and had agreed to be their gateaway driver but backed out after she began to feel guilty for taking part in the escape.
Governor Cuomo provided new details,
"They would kill Mitchell's husband and then get in the car and drive to Mexico on the theory that Mitchell was in love with one or both of them" "When Mitchell doesn't show up, the Mexico plan gets foiled and they head north toward Canada" Cuomo also said  David Sweat and his fellow escapee, Richard Matt split up about five days ago when Sweat felt Matt was drawing him back as he had blisters on his feet.
Richard Matt, 49, was killed on Friday.
David Sweat was shot two times on the abdomen and was captured alive. He  has been upgraded from critical to serious condition and is expected to stay in the hospital a few days to stabilise.
