NIGERIA: TWIN BLASTS KILL AT LEAST 44 PEOPLE, INJURE 47 IN JOS, PLATEAU STATE

At least 44 people were killed on Sunday night in the city of Jos when two bomb blasts  rocked a restaurant and a mosque.

23 were killed in the restaurant while 21 in the mosque, Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says.
No one has taken responsibilty for the attacks but the blasts bear the hallmark of Boko Haram insurgents who have attacked Jos before.
47 people are currently being treated for injuries but it is likely that the number will increase.
The mosque attack was as a result of an attack from a suicide bomber while the blast at the restaurant was caused by a bomb that was planted.
BBC Correspondents say that many believe that the blast at the mosque was targeted at the mosque's imam, Sheikh Mohammed Sani Yahya Jingir, who has been preaching against Boko Haram since 2010. He survived the attack.
