BURUNDI: FORMER ARMY CHIEF, COL.JEAN BIKOMAGU SHOT DEAD OUTSIDE HIS HOME

Ever since President Nkurunziza decided to run for a third term as president and his subsequent re-election in an election marred by violence, Burundi has been boiling and there have been a lot of casualties as a result.
The latest casualty to the violence sweeping Burundi is former head of Burundi's army, Col. Jean Bikomagu who was shot dead outside his home in the capital Bujumbura.
Col. Jean Bikomagu was shot and killed as he drove through the gates of his house.
A family member told AFP that Bikomagu's daughter was seriously injured in the attack.
Col. Jean Bikomagu led the Tutsis during the civil war while current president, Pierre Nkurunziza led the Hutu rebel group.
Over 100,000 people have fled Burundi since violence, protests and even a failed coup erupted following Nkurunziza's third term bid and eventual success at the polls.
