One case in Guinea and one in Sierra Leone. World Health Organisation (WHO) Assistant Director, Bruce Aylward says that, "we have gone over the last four weeks from 30 cases per week to 25 to seven and in the last week two cases. The progress is real".
Tight surveillance and contact tracing of infected people remain crucial.
However this week starting, 3rd August two new cases have been confirmed in Tonkolili, Sierra Leone. The whole village of Tonkolili comprising about 600 people are currently quarantined.
There is a realistic goal to stop Ebola epidemic this year, Aylward says.
