NIGERIA: ENUGU STATE APPROVES 3 WEEKS PATERNITY LEAVE AND EXTENDS MATERNITY LEAVE TO SIX MONTHS

The Enugu State government has amended its Civil Service policy to increase the maternity leave of nursing mothers from three months to six months.
Interestingly, husbands of wives who are about to put to bed or are nursing mothers will henceforth be granted three weeks paternity leave.
The paternity leave is to enable husbands support their nursing wives according to the state government.
The Enugu State Government also resolved that nursing mothers were free to breast-feed their babies in the offices during working hours.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Sam Ngwu represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Moses Otiji disclosed this on Wednesday in Enugu while unveiling plans to mark the 2015 Breast Feeding Week in the state and said the new policy is to strengthen the family unit as well as promote mother and child welfare as well as encourage nursing mothers to engage in the internationally recommended four to six months exclusive breast feeding of new borb babies.
This is awesome!!!!
