BLACK STUDENTS PROTEST AGAINST REMNANTS OF APARTHEID IN ELITE SOUTH AFRICAN UNIVERSITY

Black students and staff working at an elite South African University, Stellenbosh University have on Tuesday held a mass protest to express their anger against the language policy of the university.
They are demanding that no student should be forced to learn Afrikaans, a language developed from Dutch, German and French settlers who arrived in the 17th century and all classes must be available in English. They feel that the language policy safeguards Afrikaans and Afrikaner culture at the expense of black people.
Also a film was posted on Youtube showing the challenges faced by black students at the university.
One student wrote,
"I cannot after 23 yrs of freedom be in a space where Iam fighting to simply go to classes that I pay for like any other student".
