Lewis had a stupendous performance and could be described as victory of the season. Lewis was in a league of his own at the Italian Grand Prix.
Lewis currently has seven wins from 12 races and 11 pole positions. He is currently at an advantage of 53 points over teammate , Nico Rosberg. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel came second while Williams Felipe Massa came third.
There was a scare after the race that Lewis might be disqualified as a result of discrepancy with one of his tyres but at the end, Mercedes was cleared.
Teammate, Nico Rosberg's car was fitted with an older engine in both specifications and in terms of life after it was discovered there was a problem with the new spec engine in his car.
Rosberg was coming third when his car eventually caught fire and he had to retire from the race.
With 7 laps to go, Hamilton's engineer Peter Bonnington came on radio and asked him to put in some flat- out laps or 'hammer time' as he put it.
A flustered Hamilton wanted to know why but Bonnington merely replied "Don't ask questions just execute".
The need became apparent before the end of the race when it was revealed that Mercedes had been referred to the Stewards because the starting pressure of the left rear tyres of both Hamilton and Rosberg's cars were below the minimum permitted by Pirelli on safety grounds.
Congratulations Lewis!!!
