EFCC GIVES THISDAY PUBLISHER, NDUKA OBAIGBENA TWO WEEKS TO RETURN =N=670MILLION

Thisday publisher, Nduka Obaigbena has been given two weeks ultimatum by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to return the 670 million naira paid him by the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Obaigbena said the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan paid Thisday Newspapers and the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN the sum for compensation for attacks by Boko Haram insurgents and the seizure of copies of newspapers by the military.

Obaigbena informed that there was presidential proclamation by former President Goodluck Jonathan that Thisday Newspapers would be compensated for their loss.

A source confidentially told The Nation,
"Between December 2014 and May 23, 2015, Obaigbena received =N=670 million from the office of National Security Adviser".

"The complaint before us is that the company was given money without contractual agreement.... it is government funds and he has to refund 670 million naira".

Obaigbena is reported to have written an undertaken to refund the funds.
