FORMER PRESIDENT OF IVORY COAST, LAURENT GBAGBO ARRAIGNED BEFORE ICC

The trial of former President of Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo at the International Criminal Court, ICC began on Thursday at The Hague.
Meanwhile thousands of his supporters hit the streets of the capital, Abidjan. Gbagbo has already spent five years in jail.

Gbagbo is facing trial before ICC for crimes against humanity as a result of the conflict which ensued following his loss of elections in 2010.

Gbagbo and his co-accused, former militia leader, Charles Bie Goude both denied charges of organising a 'common plan' that led to murders, rape and persecution of citizens after Gbagbo lost the presidential elections in 2010.
