LASSA FEVER OUTBREAK: LAGOS STATE RECORDS FIRST DEATH

The Lagos State Government on Friday announced that 14 suspected cases of Lassa Fever have been recorded in Lagos with one death as at Thursday 21st January.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said three cases of Lassa Fever have been confirmed. These three include the index case, 25 year old undergraduate from Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State who was admitted on Januaey 9; a 51 year old man that lives in Ilasan Lekki who came back with the disease after attending a wedding in Edo State and was admitted on 12th January and a 36 year old woman from Kogi State who was admitted on January 18th.

The 51 year old man has died and the other two are responding to treatment according to Dr. Jide Idris.

438 people living in Ifako Ijaye, Mushin, Alimosho, Kosofe, Eti-Osa and Amuwo who had contact with the suspected Lassa Fever cases are currently being monitored
