Problem started when the Next Rated Award was announced and it went to Reekado Banks who is under Don Jazzy's label. The award comes with a brand new Hyundai car.
Lil Kesh who is signed under Olamide's label, YBNL Records, touted to be the favorite to win the award failed to do so.
This angered Olamide who on receiving his own award for Best Contemporary artiste alongside the whole YBNL crew snatched the microphone and angrily berated the organisers of The Headies for not giving the Next Rated Award to his artiste Lil Kesh who he said delivered hit songs throughout the year.
Olamide dumped the microphone on stage after shouting "iyalaya anybody" and stormed off the venue with his crew.
Don Jazzy whose artiste, Reekado Banks won the controversial Next Rated Award was given a special recognition award.
Don Jazzy in his speech said he didnot like attending award shows but only did so because of his "children", meaning the artistes under his label.
Don Jazzy went further to say that he had promised buying cars for his artistes, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello and ended with the bombshell saying,
"Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it ". He and his artistes also left the venue of the awards.
Olamide who won Artiste of the Year Award had left the venue of the event and was not present to receive his award when it was announced.
