PDP SPOKESMAN, OLISA METUH SENT TO KUJE PRISON

The spokesman for the opposition party, PDP in Nigeria, Oisa Metuh who was a few days ago granted bail to the tune of 400 million naira has been ordered by another judge, Justice Bello be remanded in Kuje prison until his bail application is heard on Friday, 22nd January
Olisa Metuh was on Thursday arraigned on a fresh charge of destroying Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC) evidence by tearing his written statement on January 14 to which he pleaded not guilty.

His bail hearing is fixed for January 22, 2016. Until then, Justice Bello has ordered he stays in Kuje prison.

As soon as Metuh pleaded not guilty, his lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) asked the court to grant him bail taking into consideration the offence for which he is charged carries a maximum sentence of 2 years. The judge rejected his plea and scheduled bail hearing for Friday, 22th January.

Metuh is also facing money laundering charges for receiving 400 million naira from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

UPDATE: Justice Bello today, 22nd January granted Metuh bail in the sum of 300 million naira and rejected Metu's counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu's application to grant him bail on self recognition.
