EBOLA:WHO UPDATE REPORT AS AT FEBRUARY 3RD 2016

The world Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that 1 ebola case has been confirmed in the last fortnight  in Sierra Leone.



The aunt of the 22 year old woman whose infection was detected on January 14th after she passed away in Tonkolili tested positive on January 20th.

She was regarded as a high risk contact as she cared for the woman before she died of the infection. The aunt is currently being looked after at an ebola centre.

On February 3rd over 100 contacts of the index case are due to complete 21 days followup period.

However over 48 contacts have evaded authorities and efforts are being made to follow up on them.

Other contacts of the aunt are being monitored till February 11th.

Liberia and Guinea remain on a 90day period of heightened surveillance.
