China has reported its first imported case of Zika Virus, the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) announced on Tuesday.
A 34 year old male who had travelled to Venezuela and had shown signs of fever, dizziness and headache on January 28th returned to his hometown of Ganxian County of Jiangxi Province on February 5th via Hong Kong and Shenzhen with the Zika virus.
China's first reported index case has been quarantined and is being treated in a hospital in Ganxian where he is now recovering with fading rash and normal body temperature.
NHFPC has said the risk of the virus spreading due to this first imported case is low.
