BREAKING!! EXPLOSION ROCKS CBN OFFICE IN CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE

A few staff are feared wounded after a gas explosion occured at a section of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Calabar, Cross River State, today, Friday, 11th March.
Several people are said to have sustained third degree burns.

The explosion which set the CBN office in Calabar on fire started at 11.45 am.

A team of mobile policemen with health personnel as well as officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were already on hand at the premises while the Federal and State Fire Services successfully put out the fire.

Ambulances were already on ground and transported the wounded to hospital.

The CBN Spokesman, Mr. Isaac Okorafor confirmed the incidence to The Will and said,

"There is a gas explosion from the construction area of our premises there. There is no fatality yet. A few persons who were injured have been taken to the hospital. The Fire Service personnel responded promptly and they have been able to put out the fire"
