CCT TRIAL: SENATE PRESIDENT, SARAKI STORMS COURT WITH 66 LAWYERS, 30 SENATORS, CASE ADJOURNED

Nigeria's Senate President, Bukola Saraki today, Friday, 11th March stormed the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for his trial on alleged false declaration of assets with about 30 senators.


Those that accompanied him to the trial included, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Spokesman, Abdullahi Sabi, Hope Uzodinma, Dino Melaye, Stella Oduah, Shehu Sani and so many others.

Kanu Agabi, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice is Saraki's lead defence counsel and he arrived with a retinue of 66 lawyers to defend Saraki.

The trial is being conducted under tight security as the police deployed regular, anti-riot and anti-terrorism squad at the venue of the trial to ward off trouble makers.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to next week Friday, 18th March as both the defence and prosecuion counsel agreed on the date for argument of the motion on jurisdiction  of the Code of Conduct Bureau to try the Senate President, Saraki on a charge of false declaration slammed on him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

CCT President, Danladi Umar asked the defence to serve all motions and processes on the prosecution counsel before the adjourned date to avoid any unnecessary delay of the trial.
