Ray Tomlinson who is credited with inventing email has died from apparent heart attack at the age of 74 on Saturday, 5th March, 2016.
Ray Tomlinson, a United States computer programmer who it was in 1971 came up with the idea of electronic messages that could be sent from one network to the other.
He also invented the ground-breaking symbol @ in email addresses which is now standard.
Tomlinson's first email was sent while working as an engineer in Boston for a research company known as Bolt, Beranek and Newman.
Tomlinson was recognised for his work when he was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2012 by his peers.
