Her family's several attempts and trips to Kano to secure her release were frustrated by the Islamic community in Kano. This prompted an outrage by several rights groups who asked the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II to wade into the matter.
Ese herself is reported to have refused to return to her family's home in Bayelsa State but the Emir of Kano ordered her return to be united with her family.
Ese has been released into the custody of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase on Monday for onward return to her family, according to sources familiar with the development.
Yinusa who abducted 14 year old Ese was well known to Ese's mother and was said to have sold off all his property before absconding with Ese.
