NIGERIA: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FILES ONE-COUNT AMENDED CHARGE AGAINST ORUBEBE

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) an amended one count charge against the former Minister of Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe infamously known for his disruption of collation of presidential results in last year's elections for which he has apologised.
The CCT had previously arraigned Orubebe on four count charge for alleged false declaration of assets while he was Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

The charges were later reduced to one count and he was re-arraigned for allegedly not declaring his landed property located at Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja while he was head of the ministry.

The prosecution led by Mohammed Diri, Director of Public Prosecution, office of the Attorney- General requested for adjournment since his  witnesses were not in court to which Solekeowe Larry, the defence counsel of Orubebe vehemently objected to.

Umar Danladi, Chaiman of CCT averred that he will impose a fine if absence of witnesses occurs again.

The matter was adjourned to April 7,  for hearing.
